MARK COLVIN: The global finance giant Bloomberg has warned that any reduction to Australia's renewable energy target could come at a cost of $20 billion in future investment. The media and financial data company's renewable energy research division has released a report that shows scrapping the target would also put more than 10,000 jobs at risk.

An expert panel is currently reviewing the future of Australia's promise to produce 20 per cent of the country's electricity from renewable sources by the end of the decade.
