Queensland power network may be leased, says Tim Nicholls

TREASURER Tim Nicholls has revealed the state’s electricity distribution and transmission network could be leased, instead of attracting private investment through a hybrid model.
The Newman Government’s original asset sales proposal listed Powerlink’s transmission infrastructure, and the Ergon and Energex distribution networks, as being under consideration for private sector investment.
Electricity generation assets, such as Stanwell Corporation and CS Energy, could now potentially be leased instead of sold, as had originally been planned. He said the “transmission and distribution” networks would also be considered for lease.
