Energy prices set to jump next month despite future prices expected to fall again

Energy prices in New South Wales, Queensland, South Australia and the ACT are set to jump by up to $600 a year from next month.
The rises result from the annual review of regulated prices in most east coast states. Victoria and Tasmania operate on a different schedule, with new prices kicking in from January 1.
So far, the big generator and retailer AGL is the only company to announce its new prices which will be effective from July 1.
Under AGL's new price regime, the ACT will be the hardest hit with electricity tariffs up 19 per cent and gas 17 per cent, while South Australians will see their annual power bill rise by 18 per cent.
